Online Safety for Children
Our e-safety rules are there to keep everyone safe online. These are rules not just for school but for life. If something has happened to you online, that makes you feel sad or uncomfortable, even if it is not in school or linked to school, please let someone know.
Miss S Kelly is in charge of e-safety for our school, but you can talk to any member of staff if something is worrying you. There are some websites below that can offer you help and advice on how to be safe in the online world.
Guide for Parents on managing digital lives
The Children’s Commissioner for England, Dame Rachel de Souza, whose role is to promote and protect the rights and wellbeing of children and young people has recently (Jan 2026) produced a short guide for parents and carers called “What I wish my parents or carers knew: A guide for parents on managing digital lives”, which has been written using the voices and experiences of children themselves. It is designed to support families in managing children’s digital lives in a positive and realistic way. The guide focuses on:
- Talking with children about their online lives, not just setting rules
- Listening calmly so children feel safe to ask for help
- Agreeing boundaries together and reviewing them as children grow
- Understanding how online experiences can affect wellbeing
- Helping children navigate risks, rather than trying to avoid the digital world altogether
The message throughout is clear - parents don’t need to be digital experts. Open conversation, interest and trust matter most.
